Car Insurance Pontiac (Car Insurance). Car turns over but won't start?Car turns over but won't start? I have a Chevy Malibu Classic 2005 (which is the same as the 04 and 03) and it won't start. Every time I turn the key in the ignition it cranks like normal, and it sounds like it wants to start. All my lights come on in the dash, the headlights, radio, everything. I tried jumping it but it still would not work. I got my ignition switch replaced 6 months ago, when that was messed up it would not even crank so I know it's not that. It's been fine up until now no problems whatsoever so I'm not sure what can be wrong with it. I heard something about the theft deterrent systems in these cars, maybe that could be it? 1 of the more common things to look for is a bad fuel pump. If you ever ran the gas tank low or ran out of gas, this causes pre mature fuel pump failure. The pump is located in the gas tank and is electric, if you are very low or out of gas, then air hits the pump and burns it out. The gas is what cools the electric pump. Try tapping on the tank with a wooden stick and try again, if it starts, then you have a bad fuel pump and it needs replacing ASAP because it will fail again. Replace the sending unit and fuel filter at the same time. If it is not the pump, the look to see if you are getting spark to the plugs, if not, then you need to check the ignitions system for a bad coil. You need gas, spark and compression to start an engine. good luck..... have you checked the fuses? first make sure that the battery is charged, if it is charge check the battery connections and also get your starter and alternator checked. see the link below for more battery inspection... Is it fuel injected with an electrical fuel pump? If so, it might have a mercury switch that turns off power to the fuel pumps if the car gets hit - like in a parking lot - doesn't take much to set some of these off - so depending on where it was when it stopped - you might see if your car has one of those and reset it if so. I apologize for the concerns you’re experiencing with your Malibu. I’d definitely suggest speaking with your dealership about this. They’re going to have the most information when it comes to your vehicle. better make sure the engine is getting gas. it could be a clogged fuel filter. also make sure the pump kicks on when you turn the key on. if it don,t then it could be a bad pump relay or the pump fuse. also check for spark at the plugs. no spark? it might be a bad coil or module. Pontiac . How to Replace Pitman Arm 2001 Ford 150The Pitman arm on a 2001 Ford F-150 connects the steering box to the steering linkage on the vehicle. This arm has a ball joint at the end of it, which can wear down over time. When it does, the steering in the system can get sloppy, and if left unchecked, could potentially cause a steering failure. To fix the problem, replace the Pitman arm, which should take about an hour, but it will require the use of a few special tools. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Jack Jack stands Needle-nose pliers Replacement cotter pin 1/2-inch ratchet and socket set Pitman arm puller Replacement pitman arm Step by Step : 1 Lift up the front end of the F-150 with the jack and put a pair of jack stands underneath the front of the frame. Lower the truck onto the jack stands until it's properly supported. Remove the cotter pin on the Pitman arm using the needle-nose pliers. 2 Unbolt the Pitman arm from the steering linkage and the steering box using the 1/2-inch ratchet and socket. Install the Pitman arm puller on the steering box so that the threaded shaft on the puller is located on the center of the threaded end on the steering box. Tighten up the puller using the 1/2-inch ratchet and socket until the Pitman arm pulls off the steering box. 3 Install the replacement Pitman arm on the steering box and the steering linkage. Connect the bolts on each side of the Pitman arm using the 1/2-inch ratchet and socket. Install a replacement cotter pin into the castled nut on the steering linkage side of the Pitman arm using the needle-nose pliers. Lower the truck off of the jack stands with the jack.
Pontiac . How to Remove a Control Arm from a 1998 BeetleThe control arm on a 1998 Volkswagen Beetle helps keep the front suspension moving up and down. To do this, it uses a series of bushings and a ball joint to keep the travel in check. But when those bushings break down as they will over time, then the tires will start to wear unevenly and eventually, you could get into an accident. Fortunately, if you remove the control arm, you can fix the problem yourself. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Jack Jack stands Tire iron 1/2-inch ratchet and socket set Ball joint removal tool Open-end wrench set Step by Step : 1 Set the jack underneath the front crossmember of the Beetle. Pump up the jack until the front wheels are off the ground. Set the jack stands underneath the chassis and lower the jack until it's contacting the stands. Take off the front wheels. 2 Unbolt the lower control arm ball joint from the steering knuckle using the ball joint separator and a 1/2-inch ratchet and socket. Unbolt the sway bar linkage to the lower control arm using the 1/2-inch ratchet and socket. 3 Unbolt the first lower control arm bolt connected to the subframe, the one that goes parallel with the ground, using the 1/2-inch ratchet and socket. Then set the jack next to the other lower control arm mount and lift it up until it contacts the subframe. 4 Unbolt the remaining lower control arm mount from the subframe using the 1/2-inch ratchet and socket. Pull the control arm out from the vehicle with both hands. Reinstall the bolt you just removed into the subframe using the 1/2-inch ratchet and socket. *The techniques used to paint the body of a car can vary, depending on the size of the area you're working on and the original paint and finish. Many vehicles are painted with processes that require special primers, layers of dif ferent colors, metallic flake, and special clear coats after the color is laid on. Repainting such a vehicle can be difficult for professionals and absolutely dis astrous for a novice. Unless you have an experienced and steady hand (and the car's original paint has not faded or changed color since it was new), concealing that you repainted anything larger than a small area is almost impossible. Larger areas require spray-painting, which must be done in a well-ventilated area that's free from dust and dirt. A good spray gun can cost a lot — not to mention the air compressor used to power the gun — and a spray gun can wreak havoc if it runs amok in inexperienced hands. So if the area you need to paint is large, it will probably cost you less in time, money, and effort to have the job done by a professional who can match the paint and do the job right. .Chapter 24: Getting Rid of Dings, Dents, and Other Hard Knocks Never attempt to do a major paint job on a good car without trying your hand on an old wreck first. If you fail to prepare and prime the surface properly, the new paint will peel, blister, or flake away before long. If you practice on a junker, you can afford to make mistakes — because even a bad paint job can increase the resale value of a car that's practically worthless to begin with. If you want a cheap but decent job that will last a year or so, find out where local car dealers take the used cars they get as trade-ins to have them spiffed up before resale. To save money, you can remove any rust, spot-fill and paint the small areas yourself, and then have the rest of the job done professionally. Of course, if even a cheapo job is beyond your budget, doing your best with a can of spray paint is certainly better than simply letting a vehicle rust away. 1082

Before you start the job, mask the surrounding area well and use even, sweeping strokes to apply the paint. (Follow the directions on the can carefully.) Practice on a piece of scrap metal before you tackle the car, and don't expect the results to look terrific. 1. To find the right paint color you need, look on the firewall of your car — you should see a little plate with the body number and paint code number on it. If you can't find the paint code number, consult your owner's manual or ask your mechanic or car dealer to point it out to you. 2. Buy a little bottle of touch-up paint that matches the code number at the parts department of a dealership representing the auto-maker that produced your vehicle. If that's not possible, try a professional auto paint supply house. They're also often good sources of semiprofessional advice. If neither source is available, your local auto supply store should have a chart that indicates the proper paint to match your car's make, model, and year. These little bottles of paint usually come with a brush or applicator in them. You also need a small bottle of primer, unless the paint specifies that it doesn't require it. 3. Make sure that the area is rust-free. If the damage is only a deep scratch or a tiny spot, you may need just a dab of rust arrestor to stop the rust from continuing to form under the new paint. If the area is any larger, you must remove all the rust carefully, following the directions in the earlier section called "Dealing with any rust you find." 4. Sand the spot carefully with a tiny bit of #220 sandpaper to rough up the surface so that the primer adheres properly. Work in teeny dabs, feathering the edges and working inward from the surrounding area to avoid enlarging the spot. Pontiac . What kind of tranny fluid does a 2001 dyna lowrider use?

Wash the area thoroughly to remove any rust arrester, dust, dirt, filler residue, and wax; then let the area dry completely before you go any further. Primer is used to seal the surface of the metal against rust (caused by air and moisture) and to provide a surface for the paint to adhere to. Primer also fills in tiny holes and imperfections in the surface. The paint then protects the primer from the sun, dust, and heavy weather. And, as you know, wax protects the paint. If you're dealing with a surface scratch or a chip that hasn't gone down to the bare metal, you can probably get away with simply applying the paint. But never apply paint to bare metal. If any metal is exposed, or if the spot is larger than a fraction of an inch, prime the area first. 6. Use a tiny brush or a matchstick to apply the primer sparingly. You shouldn't need more than a drop to cover the damaged area. Avoid getting primer on the original paint. If you do, wipe it off immediately. Let the primer dry thoroughly before going on with the job. If you used glazing putty to fill the dent, you can probably paint right on top of it without priming first. 7. Mix the paint in the bottle thoroughly to blend the color pigments properly. Unless your car is very new, the color probably won't match exactly (which is another reason for keeping the area as small as possible). The paint on new cars doesn't fade as quickly or badly as old paints did. Pontiac . Where was car inveted?

If you're painting a scratch or a very small area, you can cut down the brush or use a matchstick or toothpick instead.
